Nativity Scenes
The tradition of the crib dates back to the 13th century, starting with a staging of the birth of Jesus Christ in a cave. Born in the religious convents for the royal and noble houses of that time, it has spread over the centuries to become widespread until today. From the forties of the last century, the nativity scene entered the figurative of Barcelona as one of the main expressions of a religious nature. Through the hands of great master craftsmen such as Rosa Côta, Rosa Ramalho and Mystery, among others, these artistic creations became popular in the heart of Portuguese Popular Art. In this collection, we present a fantastic selection of unique nativity scenes.
